WHO WE ARE

Mark started playing percussion in middle school concert band, then went on to play in symphonic, marching, and jazz bands in high school. He minored in music at George Mason University, where he studied under George Carroll, former Army Band Conductor and Music Director at Disney. He performed at the time in jazz (swing, big band, and bebop) bands, a ragtime band, a fife and drum core, and orchestras.

Mark has more than four decades of experience performing and recording in rock bands in the DMV, including opening for and headlining with bands such as Matchbox 20, Pat Benatar, Styx, Vanilla Ice, Our Lady Peace, Egypt, NothingFace, Sev, Jimmy’s Chicken Shack, and Dog Fashion Disco at venues/events including Jiffy Lube Arena, 9:30 Club, The Bayou, T.T. Reynolds, Phantasmagoria, and The Washington Area Music Awards Festival. Mark has performed and recorded in bands that include Smart Bomb (Washington Area Music Award-nominated), The Drowners, Funk University, Rorschach, Mantis, Scarab, and (currently) Johnny Analogue

Mark is formally trained in rudimental and concert snare drumming, mallet instruments (incl. timpani, xylophone, glockenspiel), and drum set (incl. odd meters, complex polyrhythms, double bass). He is skilled in musical styles ranging from rock to progressive, metal, funk, R&B, dubstep, jungle/drum and bass/breakbeats, go-go, reggae, ska, and jazz (fusion, swing/big band, and bebop).
